BOCSoft eQuestion Build 2.1.150606

We have finished our second phase of BOCSoft eQuestion, current version is 2.1.150606. We fixed errors in our first phase of our development and gave new useful functionalities.

What's New in this Version

We have finished more than what we have planned. We have added some of new functionalities in BOCSoft eQuestion

Converting Database

• For those of you who used version 1 then you should get the new version. Our BOCSoft eQuestion current version is 2.1.060615.
• This is a major update so you must uninstall your application before installing this version 2.
• If you have created BOCSoft database then you should backup them in a save place before trying to do uninstall.
• Uninstall your first version of BOCSoft eQuestion.
• We have replaced all previous community databases with new version. If you have downloaded our community databases before, then you do not have to download them again because those databases could be converted to new version by using “Converting Database” utility. • Please note that, although we are able to convert from higher version to lower version, we can only support converting databases from lower version to higher version.
• Please note that the HTML Help that was packaged with the application has not been updated so please make sure that you check this web site for documentation.

New Features

• Import Database
  Questions from different databases can be imported to other databases. This function will be available for Home and Educator version. View screenshot of Importing Database.
• BOCSoft eDocument
  If you need to include theories for your questions then you can make eDocument in the same database. For you who are managing “sharing knowledge” web site, this BOCSoft eDocument could make things easier for your visitors. People will have so many files. A month latter they will forget where is the file that they want. If the knowledge is put in BOCSoft database, then that knowledge could be merged into only one database by using “Import function”. By merging them in one database and give the document or knowledge with proper properties, it will be much easier to find them. The free BOCSoft eQuestion standard version is able to hold maximum 3 documents. View screenshot of eDocument.
• Multimedia
  You can link your multimedia file to our BOCSoft database. In our web site you can get multimedia “Sisingaan” / “Lion Dance” a local custom from West Java and a sample database to show of how you can create questions and documents based on that file. Unfortunately that we recorded that file in a hurry so we forgot to record the sound. Many people like to learn different cultures from many different part of the world. Your multimedia file and BOCSoft eQuestion databases can attract visitors to come to your area. You can teach your students or share your expertise with other people with a multimedia file and BOCSoft database.
  • Please note that you should install Microsoft Window Media Player 9 or above to play WMV or WMA files.
  • If you have Microsoft XP SP1 then you should upgrade to Service Pack 2 or you could install WMP 9 or WMP 10.

• Reading
  BOCSoft eQuestion can now create questions based on reading. View screenshot of Reading.
• Answer Type
  Multiple Choice, Cause and Effect, Statement and Reasons, True or False, and Short Essay.
• Language
  We add two local Indonesian languages, Javanese and Sundanese. We apologized for some incorrect terms because our ability for those languages is so limited. Please make some corrections if you able to do that. If you wish to create new languages, you can also do that. Be careful that before making backup, the application will delete all in dtaLang.mdb and then add what is the current content to that database. Copy dtaLang.mdb for backup manually if you are not sure how this thing operates.

• "Printable" Property
  We added printable property for security reason. If the database is set to be non printable then users for the database can only take test using BOCSoft eTesting. This property can only be set by Educator version. This property should be applied carefully. Users of your databases will like that the contents of the databases could be printed. It is up to you to decide.
• "Is Importable" Property
  If you set the database to be non importable then Questions, readings and documents in the database can not be copied by using CTRL + C or right click + Copy. And the database can not be imported to another database. You can set this only by using Educator version. View screenshot of the message when you try to copy.

Documentation and Information

• There are many things that we miss in our documentation.
• One important thing that we miss to include in our documentation is shortcut command. View screenshot of shortcut command (Right Clicked commands).
• Please consider using Refresh button quite often if you are confused why the things that supposed to be there are not available. For example when you are adding questions and then you create test, new questions will not be listed. To get new list for questions, you should do refresh. The refresh button will also be needed when you create master data.
• If the database include with multimedia file, be sure that the multimedia file is copied to folder X:\Program Files\BOCSoft\Files\...
• You can customize title for your test and test instruction. If you want every test to have your custom Page Header, open Application Settings window. Please do some experimentation.
